Gentlemen,
After almost one year I was able to procure the final missing pieces to my M15 Pickelhaube marked to the 111 IR. This past week the mailman delivered a Baden cockade and spine nut to my doorstep thanks to "Age of Kings". Now I have a small display of items from the Regiment in my office and I have a number of folks from this site and the Luger forum to thank.
Attached you will find a picture of the display which include the aforementioned Pickelhaube marked JR 111 and dated 1915, a 111 Inf Regt Reservist Krug marked to Reservist Schwenk and dated 95-97, the 111 Inf Regt Militarypass of Feldwebel Bartels (with picture) assigned to the 12th and 1st companies and chronicling his service from 1903-1919, my Erfurt 1912 P08 marked to the 111 Inf Regt, Erfurt marked luger tool complete with proof mark that matches one of those on the P08, a 1912 dated holster marked to Grenadier Regt 5 and a postcard picture of four young soldiers from the 111 Regt. I know that this is quite rudimentary compared to the displays that many of you have but I thought that you might enjoy it.
When I look at the items I can not help but think of the young men from all sides who were enduring hellish conditions 100 years ago but I am also reminded of the many fine people on these two forums who have liberally shared their insights and assisted me in making this small display a reality. You are a good group of people-thank you.
Regards,
Ricardo
