Hello Guys,
it took time to take some better daylight picts of this small oddity, because the weather in North Germany played crazy the 3 past weeks and it was simply impossible to go outside without getting totally wet... :x
Enjoy this real attic found, a bayr. IR.15 ensemble, recently found in an old bavarian house.
It has never been in a collection before! :-({|=
The transport box has been stored, closed for very long years and its leather strap was so much dry that it unfortunately got broken by opening.
But the content is really great, well protected from light, dust and moisture. The Haube had its own Überzug on it, perfect condition for the helmet leather as well as for the beautiful gilding of the wappen.
Überzug and helmet are perfectly matching with regiment (bIR 15, Neuburg/Donau), as well as manufacture date (1913). Both also have maker marks and the haube has a BAI mark too (Bayr. Bekleidungsamt I, München). Helmet is also nominated. The Überzug still has its leather piece in the spike.
The size of the haube is a really big 58, so it is also fitting my head. The wearer of this helmet must have been a giant at this time, a big bavarian farmer, well fed with "Sauerkraut und Speck"!
Philippe
