Well I was feeling sorry for myself this A M as it is Wednesday , a day that I would leave for the S O S
Until UPS arrived early today with my addition to the helmet collection
A helmet that I thought I would never find
An enlisted helmet for Dragoon Regt 16 with the "Waterloo " banner
For me enlisted Dragoons have been almost impossible to find
This is the first D R 16 that I have ever had the chance to get
The helmet is a classic example of an e m Dragoon
I can find no fault with this helmet
It looks like it just came from the barracks

Congratulations Steve, you are so right - EM helmets like this are a Grail quest, and so very worthwhile when you are lucky enough to find one. Well done.

27 February 1883 König Wilhelm I appointed Prinz Philipp of Belgium "Regimentschef". After the death of Prince Philipp; Prince Albert was appointed this honourably Title the 27th of August 1907. 23 December 1909 he became the 3rd King of the Belgians.

I should have posted a photo of the back of the helmet
that shows the backrail with the 2 studs as on the enlisted Dragoon helmets only

Wonderful helmet in pristine condition, Steve. A nice addition to your collection.

Very nice helmet.
It is interesting to see that it never had the cross spike support base on the inside

That's one fantastic looking, and rare helmet Steve, congratulations. A nice sort of consolation for not being at the show this year. I know, it sucks not being there, I feel it too.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Maybe you did already in the past
but may I see photos of your Baden Dragoon helmet ?
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for asking. Here's the link to the posting with photos in 2020:

It didn't get much attention when I had posted it a few years ago. The past couple of summers I didn't make the time to strip the old gold paint off the fittings. I need to do that this coming summer, along with my Oldenburg Dragoon Helmet as well.

Here's the link to my M15 Oldenburg Dragoon Helmet that has the gray metal fittings painted with old silver/gray paint:

Best Wishes,

Alan
