Dragoon?

This is an experienced dealer. Why would he sell this Beamte helmet as a Dragoon? There certainly are some similarities. Several years ago I visited his shop, and he tried to sell me a guard cuirassier officers helmet that was new. He argued that it was old, and then got busy and had to do something else. Many people must have good results with this dealer, or he would not have been able to stay in business so successfully for so long.

Hi Joe,

It seems that his other haube is also very questionable

Obviously a parts helmet, too bad as the shell is marked KER for the "Koenigin Elisabeth Regiment" and 3GR (not 3.6R) for "3rd Grenadier Regiment" (of the Prussian Guard). I find a regimentally marked enlisted Guard Grenadier helmet more interesting than a line Artillery Officer's helmet although I have examples of both.
In general, I prefer enlisted helmets due to the fact that they are often regimentally marked and I enjoy the history. While officer's helmets are nice eye candy and I own a few, I find an enlisted helmet that some chalk dust covered, sweating conscript wore while covering 20 miles a day under his 70 pound load in the August heat of the 1914 Ausmarch (truly one of the pivotal events in all history) far more interesting than a piece that some preening, strutting rooster wore around the parade ground.
