Dragoon?

Hi Gentlemen!

This is my first post in here :) I want to show you a photo from my collection:

scan397.jpg

I think he is a dragoon NCO, probably from the 2. Badisches Dragoner-Regt. Nr.21. His medals are EK I-II., and Militärischer Karl-Friedrich-Orden (both gold and silver). The photo made by Otto Spring in Bruchsal.

I need some clarification for the rank and unit.

The details:

It certainly appears to be a modified dragoon waffenrock with a standup collar. I am having some difficulty reconciling that cipher/number on his shoulder strap to that of any of the Baden Dragoon Regiments?? His rank is that of an Unteroffizier. No collar button denoting the rank of Sergeant or Vizewachtmeister.

Regards
Glenn

Based on his EK1 and 2 it seems to me that this chap was extraordinarily courageous in battle. Any thoughts on who he was and why he was awarded these medals?

Regards,

Edwin

edwin: Sadly nothing extra information, no dedication, note or anything. The only remarkable circumstance that I bought it here in Hungary.
