This is not mine. It belongs to Steve Sinclair. He actually pulled this out at dinner the other night. He brought it to a restaurant and even Janet got teary-eyed. Not much to be said except that he paid very little for it and it is German silver--About two thirds of the size of a normal helmet.

Nice find! If I read it correctly, the plaque says that it was given as a gift at the regiments anniversary. It also tells a name, something like the comrades of the Brigade.. Graf Dohm? Difficult to tell because of the reflections.

That Portuguese lancer helmet is interesting. I was told by a collector in Portugal that the traditional tschapka was replaced by a lancer "helmet," which featured the same type of rear visor as the helmets. Hence it wasn't really a tschapka - as in cap - but was a helmet. That one is truly amazing.
