Dry Leather Liners

Gents, what can one do with dry leather liners? Any treatment to get back flexibility?

I have had a lot of luck with Lexol. It can be bought at shoe repair places. What it does, it if the leather is dry, it will make it flexible for a period again, so you can re-shape. however, (this is good) it dries out and the leather gets stiff again, but where you want it.

I am sure most collectors with experience will tell you at all costs to avoid leather preservatives like saddle soap, neatsfoot oil, linseed oil, or anything petroleum jelly based etc.

If your leather has dry-rot though, you shouldn't have bought it. Nothing can be done.

Hey Tony, would you use LEXOL on supple leather liners as well for protection?
