Dual marked M15

Good morning everyone,

I'm home on leave so I took some photos of things I don't normally have access to, one of them being this nice Prussian M15 pickelhaube with a stamp of C.J.R 91 and an interesting mark which starts with III L.J.R 85 what would the L be standing for in the later unit mark? I always find some of these less than common marks on helmets interesting personally.

L I think would be Landwehr
Also I think what you see as a C is an O
for Oldenburg I R 91

My guess would be that the L stands for Landwehr, so Landwehr Infantry Regiment.
But more interesting, the C you mention, seems more like an O to me, which would say it say's Oldenburg Infantry Regiment 91.

I believe you are correct, I picked this one up for cheap on ebay a few years ago and recognized the 91st regiment mark on it and couldn't resist for the price, its also my only helmet which has the painted unit mark versus a stamped one

Brass grommets gone, enlarged wappen holes, further confirms the rework done on this helmet.
