So here is an attempt at my first post on the Forum!

I would be very grateful for any insights on what I THINK is a Dutch cuirassier helmet. Is there any way to date these? I cannot find any markings on it at all.

Many thanks!

For beeing your first time to post here you nailed it with showing this type of helmet
The only thing i can see and say that it is an outstanding helmet

I wont be of any help here i know little or nothing of these types of helmets
I think somewere here on the forum there is one already posted and if i am not mistaken it was to be belgian helmet ,but this is said with doubts

Wonderful helmet, indeed it is Belgian

Congrats, would love to have that one in my collection

Thank you, gentlemen!

So it is Belgian? and not Dutch?

Is there any place on the helmet where there might be markings to indicate date of manufacture?

Thanks very much again!

Dutch is the language that is used in belgium and the netherlands or holland
If things like this helmet are of a specific country its either prenounced as beeing belgian or dutch
The word hollands or netherlands sounds a bit funny if you ask me

As for the second question i have no clue not everyting was marked
Did you check the inside or perhaps behind the lïner

Jonas

if you gently lift up the fur comb on the back side, and look at the metal helmet, there may or may not be any marks.

Not Belgian!!! See the link below. Carabineers or Cuirassiers.
Think: Carabineers. No or only low metal comb. The wool caterpillar looks to sit directly on the helmets body.
And yes: the stamps should be on the outside of the neckguard. Covered by the "cat".... ;-))
Great helmet !

Sorry to say but unfortunately this helmet is a total fantasy helmet, The lion is Belgium but they not have a metal helmet with a lion as front plate . the chinscales seem to be from a french Firebrigade helmet and not one part of the helmet is Dutch ( the front visor is never pointy on a Dutch helmet )

Schiavona13 is probably right about this helmet being a put together...
Belgian first model cuirassier helmets have all ready being posted on the forum.
