Eagle Head Saber of the 2nd Dragoon Regiment

Officers and senior NCO's of the 2nd Dragoon Rgt and the 1st Uhlan Rgt were authorized to carry a special eaglehead saber. The difference between the two is that the 1 UR version had langets on the handle. This is one for the 2 DR. No makers mark and not terribly fancy, it likely belonged to a senior NCO or a less well-off officer. I love the gold scabbard bands and rings and the red eyes.IMG_3558.JPGIMG_3559.JPGIMG_3560.JPGIMG_3561.JPGIMG_3562.JPGIMG_3563.JPG

Very nicely designed swords. Would these be considered Pattern 89 swords?

Just the sort of sword a light cavalry unit would be expected to wear. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I think these predate 1889. Manfred von Richthofen was a member of the 1UR. Very fitting that he would carry one of these

I have this one in my collection. Ulan regiment nr 1? Officer?
