Early Saxon Shako Plates

Jan Kube's book Militaria; A Study of German Helmets and Uniforms 1729-1918 published 1990. Page 64 Figure 110 shows a Saxon non-commisioned officer's shako from 1832-1846. The on-line copy of the Kube book is fuzzy. Does anyone have a clearer picture or a picture of an original plate? It looks very much like the 1867 heraldic badge but this is over twenty-years earlier. In 1846, a Sachse-Meiningen battalion adopted the M1842 and wore the arms of Saxony on it in silver. I wonder if they are just rolling over a standard badge shown by Kube from the shako to the pickelhaube.

Thank you so very much! It does look like an 1867-style shield on a Garde Reiter star. Greatly appreciated.
