Had you started collecting just after WW1, this is what was available. In addition to 30+ colour plates there are multiple informations about uniform details, AKOs...

Which reminds me: I don't think I have seen a JZP or Kuerassier Officer M1915 metalhelme to date...
 
For those who may have a difficult time distinguishing nuances of uniform part colours, for instance the carmin red, ponceau red, pompadour red, purple red... on a Rabatte or Kolpack, the above mentioned source also includes a palette of these different colours. Note the subtle variations in shades of graugrun and feldgrau! Hard to distinguish after 100 years...
