Bought one of these East German shakos made from compressed plastic. Thought I would get in now before prices rise.

Very nice find. I really like these plastic ones, there is another molded version that is less curvy, much more basic.

A nice Volkspollizei (VP) NCO Tschako. Yours has the proper, and distinctive, leather chinstrap along with the early front plate with the black/red/white center. Later DDR Tschakos have the compass design in the center of the star. One has to be careful of these as they have been reproduced in Pakistan. Yours is a nice original.
