ersatz haube

Hi gang,

I have been wondering abt those late war ersatz haube, there are some variants of the ersatz that have black pre war leather for front and rear visor and some use brass trimmings instead of the subdued coloured trimmings.

Were those kind of haubes appeared as they were (leather front and rear visor, yet having felt for the rest) straight out the factory or perhaps they were felt haubes and after sometime, they were send for repair and the depot just used whatever materials available at that time, including leather visors, brass trimmings etc?

Thanks, guys

I think they were both. There are bja examples and aufmarsch fotos with these. Not late war though. Early.

Hi Joe,

Thats a surprsing pic, I have never seen any pic of such haube, and these are nt late war? So, did these haubes appeared together with the felt ersatz, or they came later as the material wasnt sufficient?
I understand that the BJA examples are depot/repair made, nt factory made?

Thank you

Contemporary with other filz. I used to think that they were all repair jobs but that is not right. These came out of the factory like this.
