I don’t pretend that this will be flawless but I would like to start compiling what we know of the different kinds of Ersatz helmets. So this is a first swing -- I would very much appreciate anyone who wishes to add any information. I guess it would be useful to put pictures by this -- so please jump in and add to the list or reorganize it!

I think this is going to be a box of fleas.. there are just so many variations and one-of-a-kind helmets.

Take the Saxon metal helmet which doesnt fit into any category. Or how about this one, currently on auction at Stauffers:

You are of course correct but... that is the same thing I was told when I started on Kammer stamps. Now that is just taken in stride -- every journey has to begin somewhere.

I love that helmet. And your saxon metal I think it might fit into a category. Can't tell till I start trying to force the pegs into the holes. I think what I have to do is start listing with pictures. I have a lot of original documents from the war Ministry of Bavaria and Wurt. some of them are pretty eye-opening and really feed the probe understanding. In the meantime if you wish to buy me that helmet as a gift I could send you my mailing address...... :? :? :?
