Ersatz Ulan Mark

Were there not tin top tschapkas being turned out by the Czechs say 5 years ago?? Manions sold some of them. No extra threads here either Pete. God that Bavarian tschapka sucks. Brian

The bogus Tschako helmets also seem to lack air vents and the visors seem too big.

This one seems to be the real deal and the liner appears to be hand-tacked into place:

This one is particularly hilarious, get this ! A Filz Ersatz helmet, dated 1912! I almost fell off my chair laughing! And it can be yours for only $2995 USD.

   You mean to say GOD has a fake on his web site?? I only say that because when I emailed him with a question, rather than a purchase offer, he didn't reply... And, he seems to go a bit overboard on his 'verifications' of some of those helmets. Still, someday, you never know... I might buy something from him... who knows. Y'know, when I get REALLY rich.

Do you mean the one here (http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Imperial/photos/G011266.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) is also a fake?
Or do you mean only the one at Rittmeister is bad?

Has anyone seen an original helmet of any type where the kokarde protrudes below the edge of the helmet?

Can't recall ever seeing one that did that. So this shako is likely bogus, too, then. :-k

Imo they both s*ck... The one (http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Imperial" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 11266.html) has even a Prussian Feldzeichen...
Here's a real Bavarian one to compare (sorry fot the bad old pics)... It's a probe that was sent to the Kriegsministerium for approval...

I think Karel should start organized (paid?) tours for us to his attic museum...

Very nice piece of history as always Karel! :bravo:
