I know nothing about these and I was astonished by the high bid. Could somebody explain to me why this not very pretty thing is worth the price of about two Garde du Corps helmets? Or is it just auction frenzy?...

They are a WW2 rare unit type , so alot of people like to collect FJR item's . This was high for what i have seen them go for , but then it is Ebay , so that should explain it.
