I have been looking at a lot of stahlhelms and armor lately and this fake piece in particular caught my eye. The dumbest thing about it that makes it a fake is the engineering behind it. There are NO eye holes in this piece. Why would a soldier run around a battle field not being able to see at all !

Anyways, its just a really dumb piece, and I hope no one gets suckered into buying it.

A few years back, Tony described this whole phenomena as "junk" in a post but the Ukrainians keep making it and selling it.
 
I'm sure some people have bought these as originals... and some sellers keep offering them. If a young collector buys something like this and it turns out fake, he quites the hobby. Here in Belgium there is an older collector who keeps offering pieces like this and i've contacted him saying it's a fantasy item but he keeps saying it's real.
 
It's like any collectible. You have to do your research before you start. And the internet is a fantastic tool now, one that didn't exist in 1965 when I began.

On the other hand, beautiful work, a lovely, even patina, absolutely stunning.

The Indian copies are ugly, but those from "Eastern European countries" are formidable.
