Picked up my first in a FB group. New into pickelhaube, so I’m hoping I could get some opinions on my recent acquisition. Ran me a few hundred, I believe I did ok. Clearly needs chin strap, cockades and top of the spike. If anyone has them available, please let me know.
Thanks gents.

Hi Dave(?),
Welcome to the forum.
The helmet looks like an older helmet (1901), originally with brass or white metal, that has been converted to iron/steel field grey. The old holes for the eagle have been plugged, and new holes made lined with iron/steel rings. All as expected for a wartime conversion, all good to my eyes.
Could you post a picture of the helmet without the eagle, and possibly of the back of the eagle?
Regards,
Lars

Welcome Dave, the date 1901 is the year this helmet was accepted by the original regiment. As has been stated the original fittings would have been brass. There is an original M15 spike top up for sale on EBay right now.

I’m seeing relics and repros, are you looking at EBay US or UK? Could you post a link? I appreciate it sir!
