Feldgrau Attila and Field cap (Schirmmütze) from the "Kgl. Sächs. 3. Husaren-Regt. Nr.20"

I think setting a price is very difficult. Actually, the price is what I'm willing to pay for the part myself. You can give your opinion in response to a question. The collector should decide for himself. The collection area is also determined. Do I only collect field gray or the colorful skirt. I myself spend good money on a colorful skirt where another collector says, what do you want with this thing?
For example, if I observe a discussion about a pickelhelm that is so badly damaged, I wouldn't even pick it up at a trade fair. Other collectors were happy to have it brought back to life. My respect here too.
As already mentioned in my answer. The price is my opinion, what I would be willing to pay. The buyer has to decide for himself.

I totally agree, everything involved in the Hobby is worth what someone is willing to pay and no more.

There is a saying in the USA, " there is an ass for every seat." Basically, something for everyone's taste.

I watch the market pretty closely; and think it's not possible in today's market to find a Feldgrau Attila of this quality for under 4000 to 5000 believe me I look very hard, but maybe I'm missing something.

If one did come up for sale it would be sold in minutes, that's just my experience (y)

I only collect hussar officers. But unfortunately I'm still missing a field gray uniform.
A field gray uniform of a musician, and even from Saxony, is already rare. If this uniform didn't come from dealers who charge high prices, I would pay €3,500 for it.
Please don't misunderstand. This is just MY opinion.
Thank you for your comment. It's appreciated. (y)

What a lovely group, I would think you should have no problem getting around $5000 US for the set. Hussar Feldgrau are drying up, to be honest it's the first feldgrau musician I've seen.

I would ask at between $4200 and $4500 just for the Jacket. The big moth hole detracts a little from the cap but would think minimum of $700 for it.
Thank you John! Your message is very appreciated.

I made the decision to leave the schirmmütze as is without filling the moth hole. Maybe I should fill it with original fabric but it would be difficult to find the same shade of feldgrau.

I think that for comparison this could give some info on the price,
Both attila and ulanka in feldgrau are very scarce en much desired cavalry items,
The are seldom for sale and prices are high...
(I have one feldgrau ulnanka, and no attila, though I would like to posses one...)
this ulanka was for sale 2 weeks ago for 4950 euro and dissapeared from the site of the seller within days probably sold,
so that could give an indication on the price for your attila...
That gives an idea. Thanks.

An interesting and thought provoking discussion on a great uniform and cap. I would side with the "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder" crowd, and to hell with the reasonable collector to collector price. If ever had a chance at an issue M-1907 enlisted infantry tunic with no NCO collar modification, I would certainly pay more than the "norm", (I don't collect cavalry, sorry, lack the courage).
