Feldgrau attila

Well-known member
Good evening gentlemen,

I'm looking at acquiring a field gray hussars Atilla (dont have many photos at the moment i will include the one I have) but I am trying to do some research on them and I'm having a hard time finding any. Is there anyone here who could offer me some insight as to what unit it could be from or any other specifics? I'd greatly appreciate any help the community can provide.

Many thanks

It looks like an officer's. The epaulettes look like a field grade officer.
Yes they are for a major but with the little bit of information I was able to find it seemed like the color of braiding/tresse on the uniform and piping of the shoulder boards determined the unit so I wasn't sure if this one was configured that way or if this is one of the later simplified models? Also if there were any immediate red flags

This looks like a1915 pattern Friedensuniform Attila. Difficult to say which regiment without seeing the shoulder straps. Unfortunately I am not near any reference books at the moment so can’t be any more help.

There are no ciphers on the straps and I dont remember seeing any traces of any either

How bout photos of the shoulder straps ? What is the base color of the fabric ?
Hard for me to tell .Is it dark green ? of Feldgrau material ?
As you know he would not wear an artillery helmet

Yes the kugelhaube isn't correct and if I remember correctly the overall material of the uniform is feldgrau similar to the M15 tunic I have just a little bit better quality material. I'll be getting more photos sent to me hopefully tomorrow. This is the only one I have at the moment unfortunately.

This is already an interesting post, I look forward to learning more about the feldgrau attila. 👍

I need some reference books .Maybe the best would be Brian Sanders
Two vol set which shows his Hussaren collection .That braid on the front
looks like Dienst Attila so I am not sure that that it is a Future peace time piece
I will see if Brian showed an example .In the Infantry the future peace time Waffenrock looked just like
the blue pre war Waffenrock except the fabric is Feldgrau material
here is my Grenadier Regt. 1 officer . Steve

Lovely uniform! From the looking around I've been able to do the closest thing I can find to this piece is the M1910 attilas but still nothing that matches the color braid on this one or the shoulder boards.

I'm not real familiar with the feldgrau attilas. Were they made with the same type of material (ie doeskin wool) as the older models? The material on this looks more like denim. Also I would expect the braid to have stripes (in state colors) in it, but I could be wrong. I don't think the boots are hussar boots, unless they changed during the war they should have a rosette and band of lace around the edge.

I'm fairly certain that the boots aren't period but he won't split them up, I dont think the bottoms of the boots were as thick as the ones on the mannequin, also I have noticed that the braiding didn't always have state colors in them I have seen a few examples that were just a different shade of gray but then again I have yet to find any examples with this color braiding on them.

"it is set up as a M-1915 officer's Friedensattlia (future peace-time) with the braid and tresse stripped and missing from the collar. The attila frogging (tresse) is not the typical braid for an officer for this uniform and in fact it appears to be the frogging for enlisted attilas. The shoulder boards are muted for field service and the color would indicate Hus R.3, but should have the number three on them."

This information was provided from a member of a different forum so it seems that this is possibly just pieced together.

Auf Grund der Knoten am Schoß kann es nur Leib Garde Husaren sein. Es fehlen aber die Verschnürung um den Kragen. Stiefel und Hose passen nicht dazu.

Based upon the discussion so far, but mostly on personal experience, I would pass on the uniform altogether. Unless it is at a bargain price, you will regret spending money and time. That is just my opinion from the cheap seats and bitter experience.
Cheers!
John

I have a feldgrau officer for sale for a while, but it’s entirely different than this one. Mine is from Rhineland. Which region is this one from?
