Felt Ersatz Shako

Hello all,

I have an ersatz shako with an unusual liner and an unusual wappen mounting. I am curious who else has seen this. I was excited to get this as I haven't seen this wappen mounting specifically. The chinstrap is paper thin too. Opinions welcome.

I have a Prussian filz helme with the same oil cloth liner. It also has a strip of cloth glued around the inside rim underneath the liner. As to the wappen, I do have a Shako eagle with a large loop soldered to it similar to this. I will post a photo when I get home. We did discuss this variant a few years back so perhaps search old posts here.

Hi I have a shako with the feldzeichen sharing the same securing method. Will look for it when I get access to that shelf.

The chinstrap is the typical ersatz chinstrap which is riveted at the back instead of the normal stitch lines.

The loop on the wappen holds the feldzeichen. I believe I have seen a pelzmutze hussar babdeau with the same loop.
