Felt shell with liner

This felt shell with the liner sold for like $550 US... why?

Hello,
In France, we often find helmets in felt, without the liner, which is a problem. Here the shell is in excellent condition, clean, the post sides are in very good condition, never touched. The missing parts are easy to find on the market (Prussian infantry spike, line eagle). However, you will need to spend a bit of money to buy a pair of cockades and a period chinstrap. That said, E-Bay can sometimes be a good deal, but I sometimes see insane prices. And don't forget the bogus auctions... Personally, I wouldn't spend more than €350 on a ‘felt’ item like that.

My guess would be someone has all the pieces to make this nice shell and liner into a "very rare and compete original" that will be worth 1200 to 1500 bucks.

Keep an eye out the odds are we will see it again.

The typical felt problems are tears in the material and missing liners. This one did not have those issues so.....
