Filzhelm with a leather visor

I am sure your sharp eye zeroed in on that in a nano-second. Good catch.

Could be a repaired Filz, or the Versuchshelm (Experimental Pickelhaube) Model 1905/06.

Too right. I was like a fat kid on a Smartie (Aussie confectionery) when I saw it up for the taking :D I may not be able to tell the difference between a M1895 and M1915, except when the spike's missing, but something that obvious stands out even to a novice like me.

Thanks for the link to your brilliant article on the 1905/06. I will put a link to it on my Flickr gallery - with your blessing of course. The sad thing is I went to your site - as usual, to try to get some idea of what I had, but couldn't locate it. That said - I was trawling through your section on Ersatz 'haubes.

Much appreciated,

- Brett
