Finally - A chance to work on Ultimate Pickel Collectible

:???:

Well, maybe it is..., but anyway finally had time to work on this beasty. Sewed the front and rear visors back on, cleaned everything up and, yes, polished it. Figure that's how it would have looked after being desecrated. Waiting for some scales to arrive and then figure out what to do for a shade. I'm thinking maybe a repro 'paradebusch?'

Any other ideas appreciated and feel free to fire away..., it is quite the critter..

Thanks for looking! (And many thanks for the cleaning instructions!!)

Is the gilding on the eagle as nice as it looks in the second photo? Isn't that a Kurassier officer eagle? Looks like a nice project!

Hi Ron -

Thank you. Yes, it is a very nice eagle, however I'll have to defer to the more knowledgeable on exactly what type. I'm pretty much a pickelhaube novice when it comes to the details, with two other helmets and a Jaeger zu pferde that I hope to start restoring soon. I think this will be a unique piece of 'Trench Art' with the parts and pieces most likely (but will never know for sure) from Liberty Loan pickelhaubes.

Interesting find, one of the 'washers' used with the wappen screw was actually an old Chinese coin with the hole in the center. You never know what you will find!

Best regards!
