FINALLY something to post.

Just got back from Germany and returned with this Pickelaube. The man who sold it to me said it came from a friend of his, who was the grandson of the soldier. The man lived in the city we were staying in. Very inexpensive (it has to be for me!) and the only major flaw I can find is the missing cross on the orb... so not worth turning down a bargain for. This one was a real process to get and I've posted the account in Collector's Stories https://www.pickelhaubes.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=12244&p=87167#p87167

Here's the liner.

Hope you like it, comments welcome. It will get a light cleaning to remove the metal polish residue ( ) and dust, then it's onto the shelf.

A nice helmet and a great story Ron. Of course it's a private purchase because officers had Always to buy their stuff...

Thanks all. I finished cleaning it. Removed dust and tried to get as much metal polish residue off as possible without damaging what little fire gilding was left. It's now on the shelf with its mates. Took the photo just prior to re-installing the plexiglass (actually acrylic sheet) and shelf above it.

Thanks James! :)
By the way, all of the helmets are on stands if needed (lederhelms) and only the front visor is gently touching the shelf.
