Finaly

Very nice find Kris. One of the rarest World War I "experimental" helmets - the Belgian Queen Elisabeth helmet. Between 1,000 and 1,200 were produced by Joseph Sankey & Sons, so it is very rare indeed.

Thank you, all!
The guy I got it from had 4 in his live, and still own two.
His latest was one with liner.
So, mine is without liner...
More pic's will be added later on. Just home from a short holliday; need to rest! ... :D
Like Peter stated, the helmet is a experimental helmet, named the (Belgian) Queen Elisabeth helmet.
Designed by a Belgian doctor, who was specialized in eye sight injury's. And wanted to improve the eye protection by this helmet.
The costs of the making of the helmet was taken care by the (Belgian)Queen (Elisabeth).

This is a tramendous helmet , i had the chance to see one and even buy one in ciney a year ago but ......
I did not buy it , why not i do not now it was in exelent condition even had the liner still in place

I was more plaesed with the fact that i had the chance to see it in hand than to buy it

Congratulations with this helmet you have a very nice one

Great addition to your collection. Every collector has this urge for one special piece he wants to find and own.

Thanks for the education. I had never heard of this one before; and, to be honest, if I saw one at a show I would have passed believing that it was a "made up" fabrication.

What a fantastic educational resource this forum is!!!

John :bravo:

I have one of these in my collection. The helmet has an interesting history; It was brought home by a doughboy who had been a motorcycle courier. After the war he drove a motorcycle in a trill show, where he would drive through a flaming wall of fire, wearing this helmet (which he had repainted red). Later the helmet was used in a High School production of Camelot (repainted silver). It was silver when I got it and the rosettes were missing from the side. If I get the chance I'll try and post a photo.

Interesting story...I have a camoed stahlhelm purchased from the son of the CN veteran who brought it back, as kids, they often wore it on Halloween.

Thise one was sold, after the loss of my wife... along with great parts of the collection, the house and some other belongings of us.
But got a other one, yesterday, here in France.
I am using the sellers pic, still recovering of the trip to fetch it....
