This is interesting, flat chin scales on a artillery helmet? :study:

Foot artillery.

Right but wouldn't this picture represent Regt 3 Foot Artillery if it had "Colberg 1807" banner with "FWR"? then flat chin scales would be correct. What im I missing here? Cool photo though! I like these close up studio portraits that show good haube detail, maybe I will bid on it.

Maybe it's a fake haube :D

Come to think of it, I still don't see the difference between flat & convex chinscales... Can someone explain it to me :-?

Flat: foot troops: infantry, pioneers, etc., no rides, horses, etc. in their daily lives. Poor fellows.

Convex: General officers, mounted troops: Heavy Cavalry (Kurassiers), Uhlans, heavy arty, train, etc.

A friend told me: Think of guys who walk having flat feet and the others having convex scales like the front of a horse's hoof. IF I'M WRONG GUYS, PLEASE CORRECT ME!!

Having been Armor, Artillery (heavy self-propelled), Cavalry AND infantry, I'd have had some pretty cool helmets! :)

As mentioned, Fußartillerie-Regt. General-Feldzeugmeister (Brandenburgisches) Nr.3 wore a gilt 1st pattern Grenadier eagle Wappen.

However, to me, that is too large to be a "3" that you would find on a shoulder board. I wonder if it is an F for Feurwerker who also wore both patterns of Artillerie Pickelhauben?

According to Larcade, the only foot artillery formation wearing a FWR eagle and the Colberg 1807 scroll was battery #3 in regiment 2.
