I think that they are great photos. Thanks for the post .
It's an interesting assortment of uniforms.
Can a member ( like Glenn ) state what uniform that the Kaiser is wearing?
He is not often seen in this one. It looks like one of the Prussian Grenadiers to me
Maybe G R 2 or L G R 8 ??
I wonder that was the event ?
Steve

And one will notice that the Kaiser's helmet is not fastened with chinscales, but an elastic strap. Easier to handle with only one hand...
The details of his special leather attached to the helmet strap is shown in
one of the helmet reference books . Photos taken at Haus Doorn . Maybe Larcade?

I think you are right, Steve. I do not have Larcade books here, and have not opened those in a very long time, but I think it was a Tschapka. GUR1?
If I remember correctly, the chinscales were still present, and the elastic strap attached to those.

You’re right. He had this elastic strap. Somewhere I have a picture. I’ll have a look.

There’s an interesting thread about Huis Doorn: https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/the-kaisers-collection.18083/

Jvpi posted some great photos!

Best wishes,

I think that you are correct. I don't remember which helmet, but now
I will have to look.

Max (aka Jvpi) is right. The Kaiser was in the uniform of Leib GrRgt 8. The first three pics in #1 were related.

There was a hint from the internet stock pictures, albeit completely butchered. I can ascertain this was on the occasion of the Kaiser giving a toast in front of the Lehr Inf Btl circa 1911. The internet butchered the commander saluting in the middle as Gesandter Graf Rex !!!! --- it was so wrong. It was ObstLt v Rex, commander of Lehr Inf Btl listed in the 1910 and 1911 Ranglisten. It is worth pointing out that he was, together with his Adjutant who was also saluting, that they were both mdU 1 Garde Rgt zu Fuß. It's not a topic written about everyday but clearly that leaves the cuffs of the rank and file - as seen by the "good shot" on the extreme left, wearing Brandenburg cuffs and not Swedish cuffs .

The other general giving the toast together with the Kaiser is the well known GdI Alfred v Loewenfeld. commander of Garde Korps and à la suite 3 Garde Rgt zu Fuß. There were very many Garde Fuß regiment officers in the rest of the picture. No one was wearing Brandenburg cuffs.

Hi Elwin,

Thank you very much for the additional information! I’m looking for these cards for my own collection too, they are in high resolution which I like.

It is also a rare sight that Kronprinz was in the uniform of GR1 in the second photo of #1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a portrait of him in this Waffenrock.

Now to the first pic in #1. Same occasion by virtue of the uniforms. But it is a very interesting pic! The smiling Lt immediately behind and to the right of the Kaiser is sporting a RSt3. His shoulder board says IR 71 and he has a line regiment helmet. So he could only be Lt Schunke, a Lt from IR seconded to Lehr Inf Btl, You can see him in 1913 and 1914 Ranglisten. Right behind Lt Schunke was KronPrinz Georg v Griechenland! He was à la suite 1 Garde Fgt zu Fuß. You can see his SAO.

The young Lt with the Baden helmet was Lt Sievers seconded from IR 111, a Baden unit. The officer to the right of Schunke and Kronprinz Georg wore the tunic of 1 Garde rgt zu Fuß but he had a line helmet like the rest of the Lehr Inf Rgt.

Now the third pic in#1, It was related. Man on extreme left I am quite sure was ObstLt Detlev Graf zu Rantzau, the next commander of Lehr Inf Btl after v Rex. Again, mdU 1 Garde Inf Rgt zu Fuß. Then behind Kronprinzessin Cecile and the Kaiserin was GenLt FrHR v Mirbach, Oberhofmeister to the Kaiserin. Only the commander had swedish cuffs.

Mike Cramer has in his collection the Waffenrock of Crown Prince Wilhelm for Grenadier Regt 1 .It came from a Kube auction , I bid what I thought was a high bid but I was blown out of the water .The Waffenrock was without epaulettes at the auction.

Hi Steve, Mike’s collection is no doubt unforgettable. I remember that tunic very well. Interesting it also came without epaulettes or shoulder boards.
It is beyond believe. The last photo that I saw of it
had epaulettes but I didn't think that they were the correct pair (not G R 1 )
Mike was into baseball cards in the past .
