Here's something you don't see often on eBay...
Although I'm trying to focus on wartime pickelhaubes (M15s), I'm pretty sure many of you are watching this one.
I have no idea about it but it looks OK, doesn't it?

To me it looks genuine, but not exactly a sleeper and it's had a very hard life! It is true that this model is much scarcer than the WW1 models, but there are also far fewer collectors to this period. So they are hard to find, but also hard to sell.

Thanks for pointing this out Ron. I've logged it and will watch with interest. In this condition, maybe $1000-1200?

And another, Kugelhelm..I think:

Thanks for posting Ron and it looks ok to me. I put it on my watch list just to see what its going to do as I have no intention to buy this one.

Best regards,

Edwin

Great helmet !
I love those "older" helmets.
But I collect cavalry helmets ! :-? ...I'd make an exception on this one... 8-)
BTW: the 'missus' would not be amused at all :director:

Salut Francis!
I'm looking for an M1915 EM Kurassier metalhelme preferably complete with the large cockades should you want to get rid of one for a reasonable price... =P~

As pointed out, this has had a hard life. The front visor trim is all eaten up, broken, soldered, fixed, poorly fitted, (from shortening the helmet from an earlier version??) but the rest looks pretty good.

:D Ron

For someone on a budget who wants a genuine helmet of the period, this will do if it doesn't go too high. You can find a seemingly very clean example on the French site ABCollection - if you want to pay three thousand dollars...

A knowledgable friend over here with an outstanding WW1 Imperial German collection once told me that you can't apply the same standards to older helmets that you might to those from WW1, you have to be prepared to compromise sometimes. I think this is the kind of thing he meant!

BTW I have no connection with this auction.
