Franz von Papen

Franz von Papen.

Recently, while researching some facts for my Dutch article about the Vanceboro Bridge Bombing Incident of 2-2-1915 along the American-Canadian border, I stumbled on this picture of Franz von Papen, in 1914 and 1915 being a Hauptmann and Military Attaché of the German Embassy in Washington D.C. and the spider in an espionage and sabotage network.

Later von Papen would become notorious for his connections within the Nazitop and he would become one of the accused in the Neurenberg Trials of 1946. He died in freedom in 1969.

An English digest of this history about the Vanceboro Bridge Bombing Incident, which is not totally correct, is to be found on Wikipedia. Click HERE.

My illustrated, Dutch, article about this history is to be found here:“De Vanceboro Bridge Bomaanslag”.
