From Ebay.de to a high priced online retailer

Check this one out! Just caught this one tonight.

This has to be the same Schirmmütze from Ebay.de to Beck Militaria and look at that mark up in the price!!! :eek: It looks like they switched out the Kokarden to bump up the price! Look at the white piping right above the Reichs Kokarde, it has the same missing peice and the TK is the same. I recognized this cap immediately. Horrible.

ebay.de cap...

and the Beck cap...

this should be illegal.

Maybe the famous Dr. Beck himself--if he ever exists--was the 'lucky' winner on eBay.de and is now selling it on his site, hence the inflation...
Anyway, eBay & Beck ('eBeck'?) are a perfect match IMO as most of the stuff they sell is 'fishy' (to say the least).

Indeed - looks like one of those 60's movie props (with a different liner and a few doodads added) coming out of London.

That seller is on my black list but I'm nevertheless intrigued by their M15 Shako with an extended visor.
It's been there for a while; has anyone noticed it?

Yes it had these little two button monograms just like what you see in the Beck photos, trust me, I remember I was looking at the ebay auction daily. In my mind if Beck thought this was a good cap in the first place, then why change the kokarden? I think because it isn't the real deal and why sell something that isn't the real deal when you can up the value by switching it to a officers cap and make more money for something that isn't authentic but pretend it is. Beck is trying to sell this lemon for more $$$ but for what appears as a more expensive lemon but it is still a lemon.

For comparsion and I will only leave it up for a couple days because I don't want any trouble but here are close ups of the piping and tk.

Remember these are very rare caps to find and the timing between the Ebay version closing and Becks cap are a two week difference.

The long visor on the shako probably is a transplant from a visor cap.

Now I look at it, it looks more like the visor from a French Kepi. Especially with the cross hatch pattern. The rear visor just looks like one of those nasty Indian copies. It seems too light in colour and the black staining looks like dye overspill. Dont like this one at all!! Well worth 800 euros of anybodys money..(not!!)

I think you are spot on here, surely they cant get away with stuff like that? It is in actual fact fraud. Even if the cap was an original which it seems it might not be, the guy has obviously doctored it in an attempt to make more money from it. That is surely a crime =;

I don't know how they think they can get away with pricey fakes that only advanced collectors would normally contemplate buying anyway! With the WWW and the fairly easy access to information, the latter wouldn't be fooled that easily and all such sellers would gain is a bad reputation... :-x
