KAGGR#1

Well-known member
I bought this real photo postcard back in 2011
at the time I made a note that he was in the uniform of the KAGGR#! / III Batl
the helmet has a black parade bush
However , as I look at it today , I am confused
I am not sure of the Waffenrock any longer
What I can see of the helmet front plate
I can't see that it is a Prussian Garde eagle
The epaulettes do seem to have a cypher ?
He was the Chef of I R 55 / III Batl
He was also a al suite to 1 Garde Uhlans
I can't find him in the rank list to a Prussian Garde Infantry regiment
So, I need help for a proper I D to the uniform that he is wearing
The cuffs look like a Generals
thanks

Steve, great photo! It looks like both of them are holding tschako’s, but the front plates do not appear to be garde stars.

Steve,

Major Fiebig in a 1937 article in the Zeitschrift für Heeres- und Uniformkunde details a special "house uniform" introduced on 30 May 1912. The cypher is an "L" surmounted by a crown. The epaulette field is red. The shakos bear an eight pointed gold star with a silver rose and the plume is dark green.

Glenn
