I agree with Sandy, but the 2.E is for 2. Eskadron. The "W" is for Waffen 64. Sometimes encountered on german imperial (only) cavalry name tags.On your label is written Garde du Corps, 2. Ersatz-Regiment Garde du Corps
I’m not sure with the last, but it could mean Weite (for Size) No. 64
You are right..Eskadron sounds more plausible for a cavalry uniformI agree with Sandy, but the 2.E is for 2. Eskadron. The "W" is for Waffen 64. Sometimes encountered on german imperial (only) cavalry name tags.
Philippe
Is it similar to a rack number perhaps? He was the 64th man on the roster for this time period or rack/ locker nr. 64?You are right..Eskadron sounds more plausible for a cavalry uniform
Do you know what „Waffe Nr. 64„ means?
Thats beautiful, from your personal collection? Here's a complete example GdC Waffenrock
A "Waffen Nummer" appears sometimes, albeit rarely, on name tags. It is apparently restricted to cavalry units. It should be a nomenclature for the different effects and weapons received by the soldier at the depot, referring to the same collection. I have a Prussian cuirass with a name tag and Waffen #.Is it similar to a rack number perhaps? He was the 64th man on the roster for this time period or rack/ locker nr. 64?
My brother’s, actually.Thats beautiful, from your personal collection?
