Garde Grey Shako , Reserve, Bav and Garde EM Brass ALL SOLD

Wow Brian, you are really angry about this, and I fully understand that.
About how this forum is run and managed I have nothing but praise for it. When I joined, and posted my Hauben I bought, I got nothing else but good advice, and tips about things that were not correct on them.
And there were things I just missed, or had not enough knowledge about. These comments were always good, and never posted in a wrong way.
I am a member on other forums, where things like that are usual, the pissy comments you talk about.
I usually just read on when I see those, but also don't approve it, just like you do.

Even after having to sell most of my collection due to mishaps in life, which can happen, I still visit this forum each day, and really enjoy it.
I will get back collecting Haubes again, just keep up the good work!
But please don't close the for-sale section, as I will be looking for nice Haubes there.
In fact I am considering the Hessian M15 for sale there. :)

Keep up the good work, and thank you for this forum, thanks to the members too, for helping me with good advice and positive remarks. :thumb up:

Brian, I understand how your feel.
I know I have been making some complaints about my purchases but it's never targeted at you. In fact, you have extended your help which I have never expected you to do so.
I really appreciate how your forum runs and having a group of very helpful people.
I don't know why Lange compared pickelhaubes.com with WAF but I read his post again and honestly I think he is targeting at seller of the helmet who did not describe the item by disclosing full details. His intention was to tell members to address concerns in a more abrupt manner than adopting the soft approach. (I think)
For your sale section, please don't close it. It's a place where we see nice haubes for sale. Of cos for sellers, they may want to get the best price without giving partial sales proceeds to eBay. Some members do need money due to mishaps and your For Sale section acts as a useful tool for them to raise the money they needed. So you are indirectly helping people who needs help.
Brian, trust me to tell you that you have the best forum for haubes and this fact was discussed and agreed in other forums.
Keep up the good work Brian!

A forum is running a little bit like the real life, and real life is never only bright and shiny.

The most important thing is always to be polite and respect the other members. But that does not include to remain silent when things are sometimes obviously running wrong, especially when some descriptions of items are not correct. Never forget, we all are here to learn, to discuss and to share. And it´s never easy or self-evidently.

I am convinced, that is our duty to honestly tell the truth when we see such "errors", especially when there is a risk that some other fellow collectors can be fooled.
Critic is the best way to go further and to learn more, whe all have to endure it, it is never a shame when it is founded!!! And not a reason to leave a forum.

I am member on a french forum too. The discussion is sometimes a bit rough there, but mostly with arguments which are sharp like a knife and based on mutually comparaison and experience. Always stay objective!

Thanks for the supportive comments everyone. I have a vicious temper which I keep in check most of the time, my apologies for cursing but my sentiments remain the same. If you do not like it here do yourself a favour and leave.
As you all know I am a perfectionist and give 100% in everything I do which includes this forum. I take pride in the fact that in all the years that this has run we have only had one significant spat amongst members. I expect everyone here to behave as adults who share a common interest and that is what I always try to do. I have been corrected many times here by members for incorrect statements, missed observations etc. I don't get pissed off, I don't whine or snivel, I welcome constructive criticism and so should we all. If descriptions in the For Sale section or in any other area are wrong, speak up and express your opinion. I have absolutely no problem with that. Consistent fakers or con artists will be banned just let me know. At the same time, the Forum accepts no responsibility for items sold here. It is BUYER BEWARE! that is the way it has to be. Let's put this behind us and get on with collecting.

Wow what a fire storm .
I have been gone a week and come back to see all of this.
Not sure why tempers flaired but maybe people should read things before they get bent.
This is what I posted for the helm in question and I started bids at $150 that is $100 cheaper than what the chinstrap was worth alone.

All Original Prussian Reserve EM pickelhaube
The helmet comes with all original parts including chin strap
Helmet is tight and in very good condition with full liner.
Helmet is well marked with no extra holes
Front visor trim has a split ON THE BACK SIDE NOT NOTICABLE ON THE FRONT
Eagle plate has 2 holes on the tail feathers and I have been told that this is a rare plate

I will no longer put helms up for sale on this forum.
If I have to, I will put all my sales on ebay at a reasonable starting price.
If you want bid fine , if not go to the next auction.
The French dealer knew what he was buying and with a switched plate made a sizeable profit.
Me , I took a loss.

Yes indeed, this plate would have been rare if it would have been complete, with star, center and the appropriated reserve cross (Fuerst) still fixed on the 2 holes on the tail feathers, I think about 500-700 Euro.
But such a "nude" plate just has a poor value, not more than 50-100 Euro...
