Yes, it didn't need more cleaning at all... great job.

I have one of these with detatchable spike and it also has the haarbusch. I have another one with fixed spike but that one has a date stamp 1915 and that makes some sence because (if I'm not mistaking...) the parade busch was discarded somewhere at the end of 1914...

Good post Adler .
I think that explains why some helmets
from regiments that would take a parade bush
do not have a spike that screws off.
Over the years I have seen a few of these.

Thanks everyone. I'm really pleased with the result. Now it makes sense to me as to why the spike in non-detachable. Also, I believe they quit putting regimental stamps on around that time so that captured equipment wouldn't automatically give away the regiments facing the enemy.
