Garde M15 plate.

I need an original M15 Garde star. What do you guy's think of this?

I think the plate looks fine, however, as the seller states (Alan, a member of this forum) the back loops look to have been moved at one time, and now one is broken off. If you can live with this, then I see no problems.

Just my opinion

James

Hello,

A well-known Copy (fake) in France, Mr Nicolas Mialot sells it honestly as copies for 35 €

Or, to be clear, in French :

Copie bien connue, vendue honnêtement comme telle par Mr Mialot.

Hello JR93,
I do not think Three little wiesel's plate is the same as offered by Mr. Mialot, they look to be from different dies.
Best wishes

Hello Gustav,

As you want. But the eagle's head, that became an "uppercut" is typical of these repros.

I do not understand what you mean by uppercut. I was looking at the feathers and the overall curvature of the Wappen, but the camera angle (wide angle lens at close distance) could account for the difference.

Hey, JR92, this looks similar, is it another one do you think?

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the 'uppercut' either - unless you mean that it's what you give the bloke if you ever meet him after he's sold you a dud?;o)

Do you mean that the eagle's beak is more tilted upwards than is normal?

Hey Mike,
That is what I understood, but after examining photos on Tony's site, I see that he has both styles of plate, does that make the plate on Tony's Filts Garde Helm a copy, I doubt it, I suspect that tthe reproduced plates were patterned after a real plate. The photo on Threelittlewiesles auctionis not good enough to really tell, but the stamping does not look the same, the Eagle on the septre is different.
Best wishes
Gus

Hello,

Of course, some are differents.

Here are two of mine.

The left one is the model, copies are made from. But look at the crown !

The best would be to become a good front close up picture.

And now, what else could I tell ?

"Suum cuique" for the choices !

Jean-Pierre, I think you will have to do a composite photo. Original head and crown beside replica, and other details. Large size, with arrows pointing to the differences. The photo above is just too small for guys not familiar with this replica to see the difference. Tony

Here we are.

Sorry, but the ebay photo is not great.

Above, the Copy,
Under, Ebay for sale
At last, mine, the "big beak" variant.

The cross : full on the good (last) one, detailed on the copy and Ebay's

The beak : rounder on copy and e bay's

The star : On copy and Ebay's, you can see that the rays are not of the same lenght, and the one at 8 hours is the shortest. The one at 13 h00 is very sharp.

That's all I can tell and show about, and a good photo of the Ebay's one would be a good proof ! May be anybody knows the seller ?

But, if someone wants to buy it, no problem. But he will find this eagle a little too heavy...
Suum Cuique !

Tony's Filts Garde Helm a copy
That's not the same. Look at the tip of the beak.

Sorry, I have to apologize for my bad English writing

Thanks JR92,
First of all, there is nothing wrong with your English, for us, it is great, as some of us have very little French. That shows the difference very well, and I can see now what you were talking about, sometimes we look at so much detail, that it is easy to miss the important thing, much like trying to tell a Bernhard forgry from a Bank of England note:) (it is easy if you know what .0001% of the note to look at)
Thanks for your time.

For further comparison, I photographed this original M15 variant, which I had in my parts drawer:
