Excellent photo. According my uniform-table he should wear a belt buckle with „Gott mit uns“ or have I made a mistake?

Thanks very much Sandy. The Machine Gun Abteilung had both mounted and foot troops, so the cavalry belt and sword here would indicate he was one of the mounted troops. You are correct that the foot troops would have worn the standard “Gott MIT Uns” buckle.
