Can't remember where I even got this one. I know it is PRUSSIAN, it is for a RESERVE, it is for an OFFICER, it is INFANTRY. If there are any other clues about this helmet (regiment, whatever) please clue me in.

Hello,

not infantry, but Artillery, and may be Feuerwehr (a better view of the device could help)

I must have had a brain cramp. I knew it was artillery (of course!!!) but somehow wrote"infantry. It scares me to think it might be fire helmet.....I only really want military stuff in my collection. Now I have another reason to lay awake at night. Appreciate all the comments. Thanks

Don't lie awake at night! What Jean-Pierre is talking about is that the state of Baden used very similar wappen for firefighters. Some were without crowns and the firefighters had a different motto on the bottom.

The cruciform base looks like a firefighter from where I am but we would need more pictures.

Are the chin scales on the Prussian reserve rounded or flat? Nothing like holding a helmet in your hands!!! \:D/ \:D/

I have a small cognitive disability that manifests itself in explaining things poorly. I struggle with this daily and writing is good therapy. However, if you find my explanations as clear as mud, incomplete or off-topic it is probably my fault, not yours. Please point it out to me. I don't mean anything by it just a small disconnect in this neurological nightmare that I live in. :dink:

Hey Joe,
Most of us suffer from the same problem, the only difference is that we blame it on the person to whom we are trying to explain something, for not paying attention.

Hey abukafura,
Looking at your Kugelhelm, it does look to be an Baden Imperial Feuerwehr helm, but that shouild not make it something to turn your back on, as Feuerwehr hemets that have not been messed with are getting rather rare, as so many have been converted.
Best wishes
Gus

I just took a good look at the Baden helmet. The bandeau says: Mit Gott, f Fuerst, und Vaterland." It also has an unpierced crown on top of the griffin.
I don't know if this is the place to say it or not, but all th einfo/comments/ suggestions have been veery helpful. This is now my favorite website, altho I do hang out on the Luger websites a lot. A truly good bunch of guys here. Thanks for everything.
I am evetually going to take better photos--inside and out--of each of the helmets so you will be able to see and evaluate them better. I have a nice 9th Dragoon officers helmet which I am anxious to hear your comments on.

I was sure that I could see the Feuerwehr motto in your photo, but that is correct for Artillery, oh poo, I was hopeing you would want to dump it:)
very nice selectionn of helmets.
Best wishes
Gus

What about the Prussian chin scales? round or flat? I have a similar helmet that has both the Landwehr cross as well as the motto on the wappen. Not entirely correct, but it happened. Here is mine with flat chin scales and a picture I got by blackmailing Tony to trade me.

Be careful of Gus though. He lives in Idaho now, but when he got here. It was New Mexico..... 1947..... here is an artist's rendition of his arrival.
