This helmet is relatively new to my collection. Posting to share and get opinions.

Was missing the Prussian Kokarde but a fellow member sent me one to use as a display until I find an original large Kürassier Kokarde

The Reichs Kokarde is orginal-

Expert opinions welcome. Its maker, date, and size marked but didn’t see unit mark.

Thank you for the information. This is a very interesting helmet then. Members had information about their front line deployment on earlier posts here. I had asked a few months ago about these units being actually deployed (I thought they were ceremonial units or for civil disorder - they were turned out during 1848 demonstrations for example). Really neat acquisition!

As in WW2, a detachment of the Leib-Standarte A.H. was responsible for the "Palace Guard" in Berlin (Chancellery). The rest of the "Waffen-Division" was a Panzer-Division like the others.
During WW1, a detachment of GdC remained in Berlin to provide the Palace Guard and the Kaiser's ceremonial escort. The first cavalry brigade of the Guard (GdC-R and GKR) were combat units in their own right.
In terms of policing, the Garde-Kavallerie-Schützen-Division mainly took part in political unrest under the Weimar Republic after the armistice.
