Dear Friends
I have this interesting photograph taken in USA.
Help for complete identification of this officer and why he was in the USA ( Officer in German Embassy ? ) will be highly appreciated.
Gianluca
PS - Sorry for the quality...

What a wonderful photograph Gianluca. Another possibility is that the officer accompanied Prince Henry of Prussia on his visit to the USA in 1902. The Prince was here to receive the keys to his brother's new yacht, SMS Meteor, which was constructed and launched in New York. This was an official state visit by Prince Heinrich with an extended stay and travels beyond NYC. The bottle of champagne broken over the bow was done by Miss Alice Roosevelt, daughter of President Teddy Roosevelt.

Chaps,

Leutnant Wolf-Werner Graf v. Arnim who was attached to the Embassy in Washington at the time. He was later killed in action at Waterberg in German Southwest Africa on 11 August 1904 as a Leutnant in the 1. Feldregiment (beritten) of the Schutztruppen für DSWA.
