I am helping with the restauration of a Dutch fortress belonging to the Unesco world heretidge. During my work there, I discovered a great number of paintings, behind the chalk, made by dutch soldiers during the mobilisation period of WW1.
We found beautiful ladies with german feldmùtzen and many other paintings.
But the next painting is giving us a lot of questions.
We see a group of Russian Cossacks on horses. Clearly dressed as Cossacks.
The most left figure has , we think, a german feldmùtze. The artist has probably used a picture to make his artwork (2 x 3 meter in size).
I have several questions, I am hoping to get an answer on.
1 Is the Feldmùtze a german one, or is it something that also can be found in relation with cossacks.
2 Does somebody has a picture that could be the example that has been used by the artist around 1914
3 If it is german, is there someone who can tell me some more about this type. Or is it just an artist impression.
The pictures........
Thanks for helping
