German Gas Mask & Canister M1917

Hello gents.
Nothing extraordinary and missing the (M1917) canister straps. The oxygen canister is May 1918 dated.
Just wanted to check if the back--where the elastic straps connect--is all period regulations or is it some post-war modification?

my first gues is that it is not by war regulations
the button is a funny look to me
how do the stiching at the straps look like are the in the same material as all the rest of stiching
the straps are the held together by the button or someting

It is different from mine.

The materials appear to be late war and perhaps they could be a manufacturer variations due to shortages, but the basic configuration is still there. The M18 masks had a different head strap setup. I think this one is fine and of the WWI period.

Never seen it before but it looks good to me , maybe late war ersatz ?
