I don't know what you traded it for, but those are some killer butchers and the camos helmet looks superb as well!

Nice bayonets, especially these with the sawn edges, I am interested

I cannot help with the markings, but the ones with the so called higher ears, like in the first picture, are the fist models, also known as Alter Art.
The ones with lower "ears" are the Neuer Art. These are some fine bayonets! :)

Hi Corey 65
Thanks , the ones with the high ears are dated (1907 -sawback leather scabbard ) 1915 - sawback steel scabbard )
The low ears are
1916 -1917- 1916

Hi Gary,
I'm certainly not the authority on regimental markings and know just enough to feel comfortable when making a buying decision. I would recommend Jeff Knolls book on the subject " The Imperial German Regimental Marking (revised Edition)". I have a copy in my war room library and will have a look for you tomorrow. (y)

A nice lot of bayonets. The "Butcher Blade" bayonets are called the S 98/05 in German nomenclature. These Weimar Republic time period bayonets are covered in Chapter 3 of my book, "Seitegewehr: History of the German Bayonet 1919-1945". Yours are all unaltered from the Imperial time period. Generally speaking, the leather scabbards are earlier issue than the steel scabbards.

Congratulations on a good trade.

Sorry for the question, is this book?

Yes, that is my book. A bit hard to get anymore as it is out of print.

George Wheeler
An excellent, unique study. Every collector of German white arms should have it. I managed to buy this book while it was still not reaching such dizzying antiquarian prices.
With respect I remain.
