German M17 leather gas mask

the canister is indeed french or belgian
i beleve the call this type a.r.s.or something
but my guessis that the mask itself is french or belgian
becouse the tread on a german mask itself laise inwarts instead on the outside
on witch the filter is turned on
in other words there is not to mutch space between the mask and the filter as is with the model you shown us

Its a adapted gasmask for the Belgian/French army the leather mask is German the canister and filter/screw piece are Belgian/French parts.

Westfront is right, this is a reused German mask with French made front plat and filter, the canister is correct for this mask. The best way to tell a French mask from a German mask is the exhale valve, the German masks did not have that. The protective cover on the filter is a nice addition to the mask. Some claim that these were only used post war.
