German Officer Trench Knife - WW1 or WW2?

Gentlemen, isn't this more of a Reichswehr or 3rd Reich Private Purchase fighting knife? :-k
The Private Purchase knives--often referred to as Officer's but could actually be bought by all ranks--from WW1 that I've seen weren't blued and their black-painted scabbards had the typical leather belt loop attached by 2 pins same as the issue models...

It's actually a parade version (Extra Seitengewehr) of the KS98 bayonet and it was often used on parades etc... in this configuration by officers. As it's a private purchase item, it's not nessecary used by officers only...
Condition looks very good...

Hey Karel,
Which war/period do you think this is from?
The typical Third Reich Extra Seitengewehr versions--long for the troops; short for officers & NCOs--had a bayonet slot and catch button although these weren't used (see mine below)... The one posted on eBay seems without the bayo. slot and has had its handle blued... :-k

Apart from the portepee, how can one tell?
And why was the hilt blued when the officer private purchase fighting knife wasn't (here's an example: http://www.google.com/imgres?q=german+imperial+fighting+knife&hl=en&sa=X&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&rlz=1I7TSHB_en&biw=1280&bih=746&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=Vhx1thSI3hfoNM:&imgrefurl=http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/imperial-germany-austro-hungary/imperial-german-ww1-fighting-knife-officer-model-93042/&imgurl=http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/military_photos/imperial-germany-austro-hungary/237281d1315045809t-imperial-german-ww1-fighting-knife-officer-model-8.jpg&w=500&h=375&ei=D-o9UP-DIYbF0QXYkYGoDg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=681&vpy=139&dur=920&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=128&ty=114&sig=108768857314670904814&page=1&tbnh=117&tbnw=156&start=0&ndsp=26&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0,i:84" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)?
Do you think the blueing could've been made post war like they did with the bayonets?

Ron, there is a difference between Extra Seitengewehr and the private purchase fighting knive. The ones with the black painted parts are usually WW1, but chrome and blank steel examples also exist. Since I'm no expert (but I do know some things of course  ), I think it would be best to get a refference work about German fighting knives and/or bayonets...

Somehow, this one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/130679003502" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) looks more legit to me as an Extra-Seitengewehr from WW1 for the following:

1. Blade length is between the WW2 Soldier's Dress Bayonet (see example posted above) and the WW2 Officer/NCO Dress Bayonet
2. The handle grips aren't made of plastic like the Third Reich/WW2 were
3. There are 3 rivets on the handle when the Third Reich/WW2 models had only 2...

However, I don't know about the frog...
