Hey, check out the "WWI (c. 1915) wicker tropical helmet" from the same seller:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250891623708&fromMakeTrack=true" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This item is evidently a recently painted basket with the visor off a fire helmet, a pair of Mutze cockades, what appears to be a section of somebody's suspenders, and a Bavarian plate that's been "surgically altered," to say the least.

I thought I'd seen everything, but this truly takes the cake. :eek:

But wait...there's more:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GERMAN-WWI-STAMPED-STEEL-CUSTOMS-HELMET-PICKELHAUB-/360393943244?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e92728cc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

:-# I'm speechless.

Look inside and you can see where it used to have a fireman's comb mounted on it.
The arched piece means "volunteer"...as in fireman.

yeah I saw his other "helmets"....thought you may enjoy those. I figured out "volunteer" on the banner, But couldn't figure out who they were a volunteer with. You guys didn't want to add these rare and priceless pieces to your collection? For a mere $499??? :lol: :lol: :lol:

This "Brian be good" is back at it and still enjoys 100% positive feedback...

But I think you guys are merely jealous :p One has to play it fair and admit whoever designed that 'wicker' thing--did such bamboo looking mesh 'tropical haubes' even exist?--has one hell of an imagination and enjoys advanced craftsmanship skills! I personally loved that Hessen Customs (+question mark) Pickelhaubenstein!! When Martians probe the earth for clues after we'd all be gone, they will probably infer we kept on wearing such helmets up to the 21st Century only 'modernized' :army:

But hurry, "Brian be good" is selling a genuine 1927 Buick Coupe for only $4,200!! Don't miss this unique one of a kind opportunity to own it! \:D/

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-ARCADE-CAST-IRON-No-1310-8-1-2-BUICK-COUPE-c1927-/360392670197" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Must be somebody from India living in this guy's neighborhood! (sorry, couldn't resist) I would guess some theatrical group / prop department had a lot of fun with old helmets for different productions.

Truisms:

"Military vehicle + idiot + Cutting Torch + Arc Welder + Paint = Disaster"

"Pickelhaube + theater + costume department + hot glue = Disaster"

I think this guy has what they'd call a 'triple threat' of Pickelhaube on his hands! Yes, thanks for the laughs. By the way, the wicker man would be fun for the beach or pub.

:D Ron

Mimicking B&B: Hey baby!! Wanna ride on my wicker haube?!

To which the lady by the bar would reply: Oh Brian, be good!!

What the hell is that thing! Kill it with fire! :eek:

WTF is going on here with this post? I am officially lost. I'm awake or dreaming? Cars, baskets, chains? :compress: :cyclopsani: :shaking2:

Poor fellow; nowadays this money could've bought him 2/3 M15 Inf. Pickelhaube, 1/3 M15 JZP, 1/4 M15 Kürassier Metalhelme, or up to 7% of a M94 Preußen GDC Kürassier Metalhelme; all EM/OR versions of course!

He could've bought an entire M15 at the Antiques Mall in the Wisconsin Dells.... Evidently one of those 'born every minute'.

:D Ron

An awful lot of money for a fake helmet, which could have been better spent on reference books...

Regards,

Edwin

The buyer probably believes he's made a good deal...be he would be mistaken.

Agreed (Edwin too!)...
I just hope we don't get a new member tomorrow who posts this proudly on the 'Latest Find' thread... but then again, it might be instructive for him or her. So maybe I DO hope they post it. :-k

:D Ron

Well let's hope this seller starts getting some negative feedback because this is appalling and this is not the first ‘Pickelhaubenstein’ he manages to get away with… :-x
