GGR3 Col and Hessian I R 116 Major

these two pairs arrived yesterday thanks to a collector friend.
Garde Grenadier Regt. 3 full Col. possibly the pre war regiment Commander
Hessian I R 116 Major. Large, early pair
I already have straps from these regiments
but I always like pairs and I like the higher rank straps.

Yes , the I R 116 was one of the 8 regiments that were named for him
or under his direct command. Each year along with all of the other
regiments competed in a shooting contest .If one of the 8 regiments
won , then were given this golden yellow cord with the Kaiser's Reich crown
as a drop. And they were also awarded the Kaiser Prize. I R 116 was the only regiment to win the
award 2 years in a row . 1908 and 1909 by I R 116 / 1 Kp
They were given a very special cord with a gold stripe in the center,.
Also a K W II shield at the top.
To be worn only by them.
