Gives "over-priced" new meaning....

No Doubt! :D #-o

During this seller's first posting at 100K, I made a realistic and reasonable offer on the helmet, through the official "make an offer" on eBay. I wanted the large size pair of kokardes. Seller made no reply to my offer and the nice written message I had included with the offer.

After the seller's 2nd or third listing of this helmet at the same 100K, I wrote them a polite & sincere email through eBay's email system, stating that I would offer "X" amount for the Kokardes, or "Y" amount for the helmet. They wouldn't even acknowledge my inquiry, which I consider rude on their part. ](*,)

I really have to wonder what their thoughts are on a price for their "gem".

I'm tempted to do the buy-it-now price on the helmet, and not pay them, thus earning myself a "non-payment strike" from eBay. If I would be willing to do this, would anyone else be willing to do the same when they re-list the helmet again at 100K? And repeat the process several times, over-and-over again, each with a different non-paying buyer doing the "buy-it-now" on their precious 100K helmet? Do you think they might get the hint? I thought it might be an amusing prank to pull on them.

Any thoughts from anyone on this?

I would not pull a non paying buyer stunt, there are possible repercussions in the future. and it would reinforce that the price they are asking is not out of line. Never try to teach a pig to dance, you end up stinky and it pisses off the pig.

Hahahaaaa , :snorting: You are funny :D

Maybe everybody from the forum should send in a $50 offer. Yes, all in all, it's more fun to see the price and laugh. Not a bad little helmet overall though.

I absolutely wouldn't do the buy-it-now. I don't really think there is a chance of a lawsuit, but I wouldn't want to be the first test case as a seller finds a lawyer will try to bring suit for breach of contract. That would be a nightmare.

I also wouldn't say it would be right to offer $50 either. Clearly this seller has unreasonable expectations and it isn't as if the helmet is especially rare or special so probably worth just moving on. I see dozens of unrealistic prices on eBay. Perhaps the sellers really have hopes the item will sell.

Who knows... it could be a case of the guy really, really liking the helmet but his wife said, "you need to sell that thing." So he put a price on it that he knows it will never sell for, and if it does he'd be a happy man. Meanwhile he can say to his wife, "I don't know. It is on eBay but no one is buying."

:-k Now, there's a thought! I'd be happy too if I were him and it sold for that much. [-o< Agreed. Better to just let it go as 'one of those things'.
