GKR Schirmmütze

I bid in the inaugural Bannerman auction recently, and was fortunate to win one of the nicest Garde-Kürassier-Regiment caps I have ever seen. This one is also my first CW Borchert example. Borchert was a super high-quality and prestigious maker - enough so that it's one of the few times you'll see a logo on an officer's cap. Beautiful inside and out, with a very nice "helmkrone" version of the adelskrone for nobility inside (haven't ID'ed this "von R" fellow yet).

An interesting (to me anyway) detail is the extra layer of padding behind the top-shelf calfskin sweatband to protect that sensitive aristocratic forehead!

I think that crown type may be for a Graf
Bob - It is indeed very close to the "old" style Grafenkrone, but I think it is the older and fancier "Helmkrone" version of the Adelskrone for your garden-variety "von." This is a better image.
